Acceptable Use Policy

What you may and may not create with Canvane

2026/08/18

Scope

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") governs what you may create, upload, and share using Canvane (the "Service"). It applies to every prompt you submit and every video the Service generates for you, whether you are on a free or paid plan.

This AUP forms part of our Terms of Service. If you breach it, we may restrict or terminate your access as described under Enforcement below.

Prohibited content

You may not use the Service to generate, attempt to generate, upload, store, or distribute any of the following.

Sexual and adult content

  • Sexually explicit, pornographic, nude, semi-nude, or sexually suggestive content of any kind
  • Content marketed or described as "NSFW", "18+", "uncensored", or "unfiltered"
  • Any sexual content involving minors, or any depiction of a minor in a sexual or suggestive context. This is prohibited absolutely, without exception, and we report it to the relevant authorities.
  • Fetish, sexualised violence, or non-consensual sexual imagery

Real people and likeness

  • Face-swap, deepfake, or face-manipulation content of any kind
  • Content depicting a real, identifiable person without their consent
  • Content that impersonates a real person, or that places a real person in a situation, statement, or act that did not occur
  • Content depicting public figures in a way that could be mistaken for genuine footage, including fabricated political or newsworthy events

Illegal and harmful content

  • Content that violates any applicable law or regulation
  • Content depicting or promoting terrorism, violent extremism, or mass violence
  • Instructions or depictions facilitating weapons manufacture, drug synthesis, or other serious criminal activity
  • Content depicting graphic, gratuitous, or realistic violence, gore, or cruelty
  • Content depicting or promoting self-harm, suicide, or eating disorders
  • Content depicting cruelty to animals

Hateful and abusive content

  • Content that attacks, demeans, or promotes hatred against a person or group on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, age, sex, gender identity, or sexual orientation
  • Content that harasses, bullies, threatens, intimidates, or is intended to humiliate a specific person
  • Content promoting hateful ideologies or the symbols associated with them

Deception and fraud

  • Content intended to deceive, defraud, or mislead, including scams and phishing
  • Fabricated news footage, fake emergency broadcasts, or content designed to cause public panic
  • Content misrepresenting the Service's output as authentic camera footage in a context where authenticity is material, such as journalism or legal evidence
  • Fake endorsements, testimonials, or advertising claims

Intellectual property

  • Content that infringes another party's copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property rights
  • Content that reproduces protected characters, logos, or brands in a way likely to cause confusion or imply an endorsement that does not exist
  • Prompts designed to reproduce a specific living artist's distinctive style in order to pass the output off as their work

Prohibited conduct

Beyond the content itself, you may not:

  • Circumvent, disable, or attempt to defeat any content filter, safety system, rate limit, or usage restriction, including through prompt obfuscation, encoding, or splitting a prohibited request across multiple prompts
  • Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Service, or breach any security or authentication measure
  • Access the Service through automated means not expressly permitted by us, or resell, sublicense, or redistribute access to it
  • Share, sell, or transfer your account or credits to another person
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service, its infrastructure, or other users
  • Use the Service to develop a competing model, including by using outputs as training data, except where permitted by applicable law

How we moderate

Input screening. Every prompt submitted to the Service is screened automatically against this policy before generation begins, by the OpenAI moderation service and the Anthropic moderation service in sequence. A prompt must pass both; the first block stops the request. Prompts that fail screening are blocked, no video is produced, and no credits are charged. If screening is unavailable for any reason — an outage, a timeout, a malformed response, a missing credential — generation is blocked rather than allowed through.

The categories screening enforces are the ones listed under Prohibited content above.

Output review. We do not pre-screen every generated video. Videos reported to us are reviewed by a person against this policy, under the process in Reporting a violation below, and removed or actioned where they breach it.

Screening is automated and imperfect. A prompt passing screening does not mean the resulting output complies with this policy, and it does not transfer responsibility for the output to us. You remain responsible for what you generate and for how you use it.

Models we use

Videos are produced by third-party AI models we integrate — currently Seedance, Kling, and Veo — reached through our model routing partner Evolink. Canvane is an independent product and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any model provider. Each provider applies its own safety systems in addition to ours, so a generation may still be refused after passing our screening.

Your responsibility for outputs

You are responsible for ensuring that your prompts and the resulting videos:

  • Comply with this AUP and all applicable laws in your jurisdiction
  • Do not infringe the rights of any third party
  • Are not presented as authentic footage where doing so would mislead

Where you publish or distribute a video generated with the Service in a context in which viewers could reasonably mistake it for real footage, we strongly recommend disclosing that it is AI-generated. Some jurisdictions require this.

Enforcement

If we determine, at our discretion, that you have breached this policy, we may take any of the following steps, with or without notice:

  • Block or refuse to process a prompt
  • Remove or restrict access to generated content
  • Suspend or terminate your account
  • Withhold credits or refuse future service
  • Report the matter to law enforcement where the content or conduct warrants it

We may act on a single serious breach without prior warning. Termination for breach of this policy does not entitle you to a refund of any unused credits or subscription period, except where a refund is required by applicable law.

We retain records of blocked prompts and enforcement actions for security, abuse-prevention, and legal-compliance purposes, as described in our Privacy Policy.

Reporting a violation

If you encounter content generated with the Service that breaches this policy, or you believe your likeness or intellectual property has been misused, report it to us. You do not need a Canvane account to file a report.

How to report

  • Email — support@canvane.com with REPORT in the subject line. This is our monitored reporting channel and the fastest route.
  • Contact form — canvane.com/contact, which reaches the same team.

What to include. Only the first item is required; the rest help us act faster.

  • A link to the content, or the video file itself
  • Where you encountered it
  • Which part of this policy you believe it breaches
  • If you are reporting misuse of your own likeness or intellectual property, enough detail to establish the connection to you, and a way to reach you

How quickly we respond. Every report is triaged on receipt and the most serious are actioned immediately, whenever they arrive:

  • Critical — child sexual abuse material, credible threats of violence or terrorism, or non-consensual intimate imagery. Acknowledged and actioned within 72 hours, including outside business days. Confirmed material is removed, the account is terminated, and we report it to the relevant authorities.
  • High — misuse of a real person's likeness, deepfakes presented as genuine footage, targeted harassment, or fraud. Acknowledged within 3 business days.
  • Standard — intellectual property complaints and other breaches of this policy. Acknowledged within 7 business days.
  • General — questions about this policy, or borderline cases. Answered within 10 business days.

Acknowledgement means a person has read your report and told you what happens next. Contested cases can take longer to investigate, and we will keep you updated while they are open.

A person reviews every report. Reported content is assessed by a member of our team against this policy. Automated screening is not the final word in either direction — it neither clears content that breaches this policy nor condemns content that does not.

Appeals

If we block your content, suspend your account, or decline your report, you can ask us to look again. Email support@canvane.com with APPEAL in the subject line, your account email, and what you believe we got wrong.

We respond within 10 business days, and the review is carried out by someone other than the person who made the original decision wherever our team size allows. If we reverse a decision, we restore the affected access and refund any credits the error consumed.

Appeals are not available for content in the Critical category above, which is removed permanently.

Changes to this policy

We may update this AUP as the Service, the underlying models, or the legal landscape change. Material changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the Service after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
